FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS AN ESCAPE ROOM?
An Escape Room is a 60-minute fast-paced quest to complete your mission! You and your crew will gather together in a themed room to look for clues and solve puzzles in order to complete your mission and “escape” the room. Examine those paintings on the wall, rummage through the bookshelves, or examine notes and memos to decipher a hidden code or riddle. Everywhere you look is a potential clue! You may find a series of numbers or letters you need for a combination lock or a key for a padlock. But don’t worry, if you get stumped, your friendly Game Master will drop you a hint if needed. Get busy, the countdown starts as soon as you get your mission!

ARE WE REALLY LOCKED IN A ROOM?
No. We don’t stop the clock but you may leave the escape room at any time (for the restroom, babysitter calls, etc.).  

DO I NEED A RESERVATION?
Reservations for the escape room are required by booking online or calling us. Click any of the ‘Book Now’ buttons. 

WHERE IS HIGH ROCK ESCAPES?
We are located in the Hocking Hills near Logan, Ohio in the office cabin of High Rock Adventures at 10108 Opossum Hollow Rd, Rockbridge, Ohio  43149. Parking is directly across from the cabin at High Rock Adventures. Watch for traffic crossing the road to the stairs, which lead to the office on the hill. 

CAN MY GROUP HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE ROOM?
Yes, you can book a Private Room experience. 5-6 participants make the escape room private automatically. Groups larger than 6 are not recommended.

DO I NEED TO PURCHASE ALL THE AVAILABLE SPOTS FOR AN ESCAPE ROOM TIME SLOT?
No. We do require a minimum of 2 participants to run a game. There is an option to book a private room or a public room where you may be teamed with other people in the same game and time slot. 5-6 participants make the escape room private automatically.

WHAT TIME DO I/WE NEED TO ARRIVE?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time as a waiver will need to be signed and your Game Master will give an overview of the rules of the game prior to start time.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I/WE ARRIVE LATE?
We ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Being on time is essential to everyone’s experience. For non-private bookings, you will not be permitted into the escape room if you are late. For private bookings, your time to complete the room will be reduced to maintain the original end time. Example: You arrive 10 minutes late and take another 5 minutes to complete your waivers. Your time to complete the room will be reduced from 60 minutes to 45 minutes. This is done to preserve the start times of the games following yours. There are NO refunds or rescheduling in this scenario as this time block is reserved specifically for you.

ARE THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF?
No, but dim lighting may be present in certain areas.

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS?
No. Everything you need to know is located somewhere in the escape room. We ask that do not use tools from outside the room.

CAN I BRING FOOD AND DRINK INTO THE FACILITY OR ROOM?
Food and drinks are NOT allowed. Alcohol is strictly prohibited.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Once reservations are made and confirmed by us, you are considered a confirmed guest and your credit or debit card will be charged. Should you choose or need to cancel 14 days or more prior to your confirmed date a full refund will be issued. 
  • Cancellations made within 14 days up to 48 hours prior are eligible for a full value gift card of the dollars paid toward any future Escape Room experience at High Rock Escapes or tour/experience at High Rock Adventures/Hocking Hills Ecotours. 
  • If you need to change the date or time of your reservation, you may do so one time, up to 7 days prior to your originally scheduled experience, based on availability.
  • No refunds or reschedules will be given with less than 48 hours notice. Your reservation is transferable, so you can give it or sell it to someone else if you choose, please advise our office in advance of any name changes.
  • If you are late, you will not receive a refund and you will have only the time left in the escape room that is remaining of the hour reserved. We cannot hold the group to wait for a late participant. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your reserved time.

IS THE LOCATION HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE?
No. The escape room is in a second-level attic space accessible only by stairs. We have been able to accomodate stair-climbing wheelchairs on our outdoor entry steps.

ARE CHILDREN PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE?
Children aged 6+ usually do OK in the room but only with adult guidance. The room is not scary but several of the puzzles are too complex for younger kids. For the consideration of other guests, all parties that have participants under the age of 13 are required to book as a private event. All children 15 and under require at least one adult participant. 18 and under require a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. 

CAN I COME BACK AND TRY AGAIN?
Yes! If you aren’t successful at completing your mission, you can certainly come back and try again. The fee would be the same as a new experience.

CAN I COME AT A TIME THAT’S NOT LISTED IN THE SCHEDULE?
Please contact us for special arrangements and we will try to accommodate you.

DO I NEED TO WEAR ANYTHING SPECIAL?
Comfortable clothes are suggested. The activity might require stooping, kneeling, or crouching down to get a closer look at something. If you need reading glasses, please come prepared.

CAN I SCHEDULE A CORPORATE TEAM-BUILDING EVENT?
Yes. Please call us to arrange a special corporate event. We can set up special times outside our normal business hours.
